About
The ISDE is a non-political, non-governmental and not-for-profit international organization, principally for promotion of academic exchange, science and technology innovation, education, and international collaboration.
The purpose of the society is to promote international cooperation on the Digital Earth vision, and enable the Digital Earth technology to play key roles inter alia, in economic and social sustainable development, environmental protection, disaster mitigation, natural resources conservation and improvement of human being's living standard.
The ISDE holds a key global event each year, alternating between a symposium which draws the widest range of people interested in digital earth, and Digital Earth Summits which typically attract high ranking officials, academics, business leaders, and domain experts with a focus on advancing this critical world-wide initiative and progressing the goals and focus of the Digital Earth community.

Digital Earth is seen by many as an environmental movement for the PlayStation generation. It uniquely brings together an exciting and appealing blend of environmental stewardship and the application of extreme technologies - super computers, vast datasets, satellites, spatial sciences, 3D computer graphics, sensor webs etc. - to monitor, measure and manage.
