4th Digital Earth Summit 2012

A sneak peek at how the Summit will run

110 days till the summit opens, calling all early birds...

It's hard to believe that it's only 110 days until the Digital Earth Summit opens here in Wellington, New Zealand.  Registrations are flowing in, although I suspect some of you are waiting for the programme to be published before committing - one might call this a causality dilemma (e,g, "which came first - the chicken or the egg?").

As we finalise our keynote speakers, I thought it might be useful to give you an overview of how the Summit will run and to encourage you to take us up on our Early Bird pricing (which ends 1st June 2012).

As you know, "Digital Earth and Technology" is our overarching theme and by virtue of Wellington's geological profile, holding the Summit here makes for a most intriguing location: there are not many places on earth where you will find such a contemporary city renowned for its research, innovation, arts and culture, whilst straddling two tectonic plates.  We are a living, breathing laboratory for the exploration of all things digital relating to our three sub-themes:  Digital Environment, Building Resilient Cities, and Growing Up Digital.

Right now our focus is on confirming the many well recognised keynote speakers from around the world who will address our delegates with both passion and knowledge.  Some I consider have rock star status and I can't wait to announce them!  We'll keep you updated here http://www.digitalearth12.org.nz/speakers.

So, please bookmark this website and keep an eye out for updates to the programme which will see the mornings set out with our keynote speakers, the afternoons filled with concurrent sessions around our 3 sub-themes and then everyone coming together again at the end of the day for chair reports and panel discussions.

By the way, if you enjoy the social side of conferences then you'll enjoy what the Summit and Wellington offer you - from our conference dinner and other social and networking functions, to amazing city views and venues, not to mention some of the best coffee you'll find anywhere in the world - we've got it all and can't wait to show it off!
